why your laundry still smells after washing🧺🫧

once your washer sings that little song letting you know it’s time to change it, you gotta change it!! (lg washer users you know exactly what i mean😂) DO NOT leave your wet clothes sitting in the washer for too long!!! they. will. smell. worse. than when you put them in there!! trust me🫶🏼 make time for yourself to change the wash as soon as it’s finished so you won’t forget!🧼 i have definitely accidentally left clothes in the washer wet too long, put them in the dryer, & thought it would be okay but had to rewash them instead🙄😂

... Read moreLeaving wet clothes sitting in a washer for too long is one of the main reasons laundry develops unpleasant odors after washing. The damp environment creates a breeding ground for mold and mildew, which cause musty smells. This is especially common in popular LG washers with direct drive motors, where users notice specific alerts signaling when it’s time to transfer clothes. To prevent this, remove laundry promptly and avoid delays between washing and drying. In addition to immediate removal, regularly cleaning your washing machine helps maintain fresh-smelling clothes. Over time, residue from detergents, fabric softeners, and dirt can accumulate inside the drum, gasket, and detergent dispenser, leading to bad odors. Running a washing machine cleaning cycle monthly with specialized cleaners or a vinegar and baking soda mixture can remove buildup and keep your washer smelling clean. Selecting the right detergent and using proper washing techniques also matter. Use high-quality detergents suited for your washer type and fabric, and avoid overloading the machine, which prevents thorough rinsing. Using too much detergent can leave residues that trap odors. Additionally, air drying clothes outside when possible promotes freshness by allowing natural ventilation. If odors persist, consider checking your washing machine for mechanical issues like clogged drains or filters that could cause stagnant water and smells. Regular maintenance ensures your washer functions optimally. By making time to change your wash immediately upon completion, keeping your machine clean, and using appropriate washing habits, you can avoid the frustration of lingering laundry smells and enjoy fresh clothes every time.
