You'll be wearing it for hours, so make sure your costume allows for movement and breathability. Don't be afraid to experiment with makeup to enhance features, even for male characters – contouring can do wonders! Also, don't feel pressured to spend a fortune. My approach was finding key elements and then DIY-ing a lot of the smaller details. The most important thing is to have fun and enjoy the process.
