Wisdom Tooth Recovery!! 🫨🫤

Okay pretty faces! I got my wisdom teeth out and whew 😮‍💨 nobody prepared me for the rollercoaster this recovery would be 😅 The worst part for me was the after diet because I love to YAP and eat. By the fifth day i felt like if i had to look at another bowl of mashed potatoes I would fling my body into the sun.😑 Then on day six i was cooking up hot links girl , I couldn’t take it anymore lol For me once tbe jaw stiffness went away I was ready to try and “chew” and when I say chew I mean front teething it and swallowing because I was still scared to chew on that side. 😐🤣.

Here’s how it really went down and what helped me the most! ⬇️

📅 Day 1: Felt okay right after the procedure (thanks anesthesia lol). I stuck to root beer floats, broth, soup, and of course… ice cream. Soft + cold was the way to go 🍦

📅 Day 2: Ugh. The worst pain hit. Swelling, soreness, and just feeling BLEH. I kept it super light with liquids and didn’t push it. Lots of rest, ice packs, and being gentle with myself 🥲

📅 Days 3–6: Still on soft foods, rotating soup, ice cream, floats, and the occasional mashed potatoes. Starting to rinse gently with warm salt water helped a lot 💧

📅 Day 8 (Today! 🎉): I’m eating semi-regular foods again—avoiding anything hard, crunchy, or super chewy. Still healing, but finally feeling normal-ish again 🙌

✨ What helped me most:

✔️ Root beer floats (don’t judge, they SAVED me)

✔️ Ice packs & staying on top of pain meds early on

✔️ Sleeping slightly upright (it takes the pressure off your face)

✔️ Staying super gentle with rinsing and cleaning

✔️ Being patient—your body is doing its thing!

Let me know if you’ve had yours out yet or if you’re preparing for it! You got this 🧸🪥

... Read moreRecovering from wisdom tooth removal can be a challenging journey, and understanding how to manage it can greatly ease the discomfort. It's crucial to start with a soft diet, incorporating foods like mashed potatoes, yogurt, smoothies, and plenty of liquids to hydrate. Soft foods not only prevent pain but also aid in the healing process. Utilizing cold compresses on your cheeks for swelling is an effective method in the initial days. It's advisable to follow a strict pain medication schedule to keep discomfort at bay. Also, sleeping slightly elevated can help reduce pressure and pain in the affected area. Gentle rinsing with warm salt water will assist in cleaning and soothing the mouth, but be cautious to avoid any vigorous swishing. Nutrition also plays an important role in recovery. High-protein foods and smoothies can promote healing and provide energy. Some recommend specialized nutritional drinks to help supplement your diet while you are limited to soft foods. It’s essential to listen to your body, progressing back to a normal diet only when you feel ready. Lastly, remember that everyone’s recovery experience is different. Patience is key, and keeping a positive mindset can make this a smoother ride. Share your experiences or tips with others in similar situations; your insights could be invaluable to someone else navigating their wisdom tooth recovery!
