disclaimer: most of these were half full at the start of the month! I wanted to take January to make a concentrated effort to finish things i already started, so there's a lot more empties than usual.
I recently embarked on a personal challenge to finish up my half-used skincare and body products throughout January, and it was quite revealing. Using products like Dove's Revitalize Cherry + Chia Milk body wash and Palmer's Cocoa Butter Hempz formula moisturizer allowed me to evaluate what truly delivered results and worth repurchasing. I especially appreciated moisturizers with hydrating ingredients such as jojoba seed oil, niacinamide, and ceramides, which helped maintain my skin barrier through winter. On the other hand, I found some mini scented hand creams less appealing, especially if they didn't absorb well or left an unpleasant scent behind. It's a good reminder to be selective about mini products based on texture and fragrance before committing to a full size. Incorporating blemish patches like elf’s microneedling patches and setting powders with ingredients like salicylic acid, hyaluronic acid, and tea tree oil also helped manage occasional breakouts and keep my skin fresh. Deodorants with long-lasting formulas such as Dove Advanced Care’s coconut ceramide variety provided consistent protection, which is crucial during colder months when layering clothes can make us sweat unnoticed. Overall, focusing on finishing products taught me to be more mindful of what works for my skin type and preferences, helping reduce waste and streamline my routine.
