Reasons your Having sleep paralysis…

Alright now let’s talk about sleep paralysis the way we know it down South — not just some medical thing folks read in a book but how we been knowing about it in our bones for generations

Now when sleep paralysis hits, it feel like your body won’t move but your spirit wide awake 👀 You can see everything around you but you stuck… like something heavy sittin on your chest and it just won’t let go

Old Black folks used to say “the haint ridin you” 👻 That’s the most common thing you gon hear — “a witch ridin your back” or “a spirit sittin on your chest” They ain’t call it no sleep paralysis back then… nah baby they knew it was something spiritual happening

Some folks believe demons or dark spirits come at night when your soul is in between worlds. That in-between place when you fallin asleep or just about to wake up — that’s when the veil between this world and the next is thin 👁️‍🗨️ That’s when spirits like to creep through

People talk about seeing shadows at the edge of the bed... figures in the corner… can’t speak… can’t scream… that’s how you know it ain’t just a bad dream. Sometimes it’s a spirit feeding off fear. Other times, it’s a generational curse tryin to whisper in your ear

But it ain’t always an attack

Sometimes your spirit trying to travel ✨ You could be astral projecting without even meaning to — your soul stepping out your body just a lil too far. And when it tries to come back in, you get stuck in that middle zone for a moment… that’s when the paralysis hits. Ain’t no demon that time… it’s your own power trying to teach you something

Some say it’s the ancestors tryin to get your attention. They might be sending a message or protecting you from something in the spirit world. That stillness… that silence… it ain’t always bad. Sometimes it’s sacred

Now back in the day, old Black folks had their ways of handling this:

Kept a Bible under the pillow 📖

Slept with a piece of iron under the bed or a knife to keep spirits away ⚔️

Put salt at the door and windows to block out evil ✋

Prayed Psalm 91 before sleeping 🙏

Called on Jesus name when you couldn’t speak no words but your spirit cried out “Jesus... Jesus... Jesus...”

And baby let me tell you, ALL Black folks say the same thing when it happen:

“I couldn’t move... I was tryin to scream... I saw somethin standin over me…”

We all done said it. We all done felt it

So when it comes to sleep paralysis… don’t just brush it off. Pay attention. Protect yourself. Pray over your space. Talk to your people. Keep your spirit clean. Keep your bedroom blessed

Cuz whether it’s a demon, a message, or a moment of power — something in the spirit is moving when that happens

And you gotta be ready #witchcraft #blackgirllemon8 #witchy #spirituality #spiritual

... Read moreWhen that chilling feeling of sleep paralysis hits, it’s a truly unsettling experience. You’re wide awake, eyes possibly darting around the room, yet your body feels utterly locked down. It’s like being trapped in a waking nightmare, often accompanied by a crushing weight on your chest, making every breath feel like a struggle. Many describe seeing shadowy figures at the foot of their bed, dark shapes looming in the corner, or even feeling a malevolent presence right over them. Your mouth might be open in a silent scream, just like that terrified feeling of wanting to cry out but finding no sound will escape. Your hands might be clutched to your stomach, a natural reaction to the overwhelming fear. So, what can you do when you find yourself caught in that terrifying in-between state? Beyond the spiritual protections we talk about, there are ways to try and break free *in the moment*. The key is often to focus all your energy on a tiny movement. Try to wiggle just one toe, or twitch a finger. It might feel impossible, but direct all your mental will to that small action. Another technique is to concentrate on your breathing – take deep, deliberate breaths. This can sometimes help to ground you and pull you back into full consciousness. If you're spiritually inclined, silently calling upon a protective entity or repeating a prayer (like Psalm 91) in your mind can be a powerful mental anchor, reminding you of your spiritual strength even when your body feels weak. To help prevent these spiritual visitations, keeping your personal space and spirit clean is crucial. Beyond placing a Bible under your pillow or iron under your bed, everyday practices can make a difference. Burn cleansing herbs like sage or palo santo to clear negative energy from your room regularly. Diffuse essential oils known for their protective properties, like frankincense or lavender, before sleep. Start a nightly ritual of prayer or meditation, setting intentions for peaceful rest and spiritual protection. Some believe that stress, anxiety, or an irregular sleep schedule can create openings in your spiritual defenses, making you more vulnerable. So, taking care of your mental and emotional well-being is also a form of spiritual protection. By being mindful of your environment and your inner state, you can strengthen your spiritual shield and encourage only positive energies to surround you while you rest. Remember, your spirit is powerful, and with the right practices, you can stand firm against any unwelcome visitors.

Thank you 🙏🏾 for this! I truly appreciate it. I also have another question for you. What do you feel about lights flicking around you? Like when I enter certain rooms in my house my lights be flickering and it seems to only happen to me, no one else in my house.
