Labubu Dolls?!?
Some of y’all already side-eyin’ ’em, some curious, and others talkin’ bout they wouldn’t bring one in their house if it came with gold inside.
🌚 So what is a Labubu doll?
Labubu is a character created by the Hong Kong-based designer Kasing Lung, originally part of a toy line from the art toy brand POP MART. Now at first glance, these little creatures look like mischievous forest imps , big eyes, pointy teeth, and always smirkin’ like they know something you don’t.
They started gaining popularity around 2019, especially in Asia and among collectors of designer vinyl toys. The style is kawaii, a little creepy, but also kind of cute , in that Tim Burton-meets-the-woods kind of way.
And baby, some of them go for hundreds of dollars on resale sites. Folks collect them like they sacred statues or rare gems.
👻 But now folks whisperin’…
Lately, people been sayin’ there’s something off about them. On TikTok, in Reddit threads, even spiritual folks sittin’ at their altars been raising an eyebrow. Some say the dolls are:
• Causing weird energy in the house
• Bringing nightmares or strange dreams
• Being found in places they didn’t put them
• Attracting spirits, especially trickster ones
Now listen , we not saying they cursed. We not saying they haunted. But we are saying that in Black spiritual traditions, anything with eyes and a face that you ain’t made or blessed yourself can sometimes act as a spirit vessel.
That’s why your granny used to tell you not to bring home no antique dolls or secondhand puppets unless you cleanse ’em first. 👏🏾
🪔 Should you get one?
Well baby, that’s up to you. You know on The Hidden Porch, we believe in staying spiritually clean and discerning. If you love art toys and feel good energy around them , go for it. But if you feel even a flicker of unease, trust your gut. That’s your spirit guides tapping on your shoulder.
🪑 So porch fam, what y’all think?
Have you heard of Labubu? Would you bring one in your house or no ma’am? Do you collect art toys or is this one of those “not in my home” situations?
Sound off below , y’all know I’m listenin’.

This is my personal opinion but I think it’s what you give to it and not the “ toy” itself. And yes I have both family members who would be like not in my house and ones who are like this is a a toy that I bought for my children.🙄 As for me I think do your own research if you’re interested and respect the culture and context of what it means but at the end of the day it’s a choice between what you believe in.
