4 ways to read books to endure, read long and remember 📚

Have you ever opened a book in less than 10 minutes and became distracted, finished reading many pages but could barely remember anything?

After adjusting my readings, I found that "effective reading" is more important than long reading, so today I want to share four ways to both read longer and understand more content.

1. Set goals before reading

Don't start reading pointlessly. Ask yourself, "What are you going to read today?" Or "What do you want to know?" For example, finish one chapter or summarize five important topics. Having a goal will help your brain focus and not feel that reading is a burden.

2. Divide the reading time around.

It is not necessary to sit and read continuously for hours, because the brain also needs to rest. Try the main, read 50 minutes, rest 10 minutes, or Pomodoro 25 minutes, rest 5 minutes, reduce fatigue, concentrate longer, and resume reading effectively.

3. Participatory reading

Don't just look at the characters, but "think about the content." Underline, summarize, write a Mind Map, or ask yourself, "Why is this?" and "What do you say if you have to explain it to others?" This method will make you understand more than reading and remember longer.

4. Review every time after reading

After reading, don't close the book. Try 5-10 minutes, summarize what you learned in your own words, or revisit it the next day. Spaced Repetition will transform short-term memory into long-term memory better than reading multiple consecutive cycles.

Finally, reading is not a competition for who reads more, but reading to understand and to apply knowledge.
