Rococo inspired room Part #2
The pink turned out darker than I thought it would but I still like it.
So, you saw my last post about starting my Rococo-inspired room makeover, and now we're diving deeper into the process! Like I mentioned in the main post, the pink paint shade turned out a bit darker than I envisioned, but honestly, I'm absolutely loving it. It’s creating such a rich, cozy backdrop for the pink rococo aesthetic I’m aiming for. This whole journey of decorating my room in a French Rococo style has been such a learning curve, but so rewarding. Before the painting could even begin, there was a lot of prep work. I decided it was time for a major declutter. My old bookshelves were taking up so much space, and I honestly felt like they made the room look smaller. It was a big decision to get rid of these bulky pieces, but thankfully, my sister needed some new storage, so it worked out perfectly—they went to a good home! Clearing them out instantly made the room feel lighter and more open, which is essential for capturing that airy, elegant rococo interior design feel. Of course, making a giant mess was an inevitable part of the process. I swear, sometimes it feels like you have to make things worse before they get better, right? Now I have the pleasure of cleaning this up – but it's all worth it for the final vision. To properly prep for the paint, I had to move everything out. I'm putting it in another room while I paint, which means my spare room is currently a chaotic storage unit! It was also a bit of a battle with stupid cobwebs in the corners that had clearly taken up residence. But tackling these unglamorous tasks is all part of the DIY charm. I was so grateful when my mom came over to help with some of the heavy lifting and moral support. Having an extra set of hands made a huge difference, especially with the furniture rearrangement. Now, about creating that authentic rococo style home decor. Rococo isn’t just about being ornate; it’s a design style that originated in 18th-century France, known for its light, playful, and elaborate details, often inspired by nature with shell-like curves and asymmetrical patterns. Think less rigid than Baroque, more whimsical and intimate. When I started researching rococo decorations, I was drawn to the delicate pastels and the emphasis on comfort and luxury, not just grandiosity. For my pink rococo aesthetic, I'm looking for pieces that embody that french rococo style furniture with their elegant curves and intricate carvings, but maybe in a modern, less overwhelming way. I'm exploring options for rococo furniture that might be smaller in scale or painted in lighter colors to keep the room from feeling too heavy. After the paint is fully dry, the next exciting step is bringing in the new elements. I’m hunting for mirrors with rococo style pattern frames, some plush textiles, and perhaps some delicate rococo ceramics to add those finishing touches. For anyone else dreaming of a rococo style home, my advice is to start with a mood board. Pinpoint the elements you love – whether it’s the marie antoinette rococo extravagance or just a hint of coquette decor. Don’t be afraid to mix and match; it’s all about creating a space that feels uniquely yours and, most importantly, comfortable. Wish me luck with the next phase – finding the perfect decor pieces!

Still a lot of work to do, but it’s starting to come together.
