Wavy gals have more fun 🫧
Who else is a wavy gal? 👇🏼 Have you mastered your wavy routine? Is it easy for you to switch between wavy and styled?
Hey wavy pals! 👋 I know the struggle is real when it comes to taming those beautiful waves. For years, I battled frizz, flatness, and just couldn't figure out how to make my hair consistently look good. It felt like my hair had a mind of its own – sometimes it was super bouncy, other times it just... drooped. But I've finally cracked the code, and I'm so excited to share my go-to wavy hair routine that has completely transformed my locks! My journey to loving my waves started with understanding that wavy hair needs a different approach than straight or curly hair. If your hair is very bouncy, you're already halfway there! It's all about enhancing that natural texture. Here’s what works for me to get those perfect, soft wavy hair styles, including gorgeous beach waves that last. First, Washing & Conditioning: I swear by sulfate-free and silicone-free products. These gentle formulas don't strip your hair or weigh it down. When conditioning, I use the 'squish to condish' method – after applying conditioner, I add a bit of water and gently scrunch my hair upwards, squishing out the excess water. This helps my hair absorb moisture and encourages my natural wave pattern. Next, Styling Products: While my hair is still soaking wet (this is key!), I apply a leave-in conditioner, followed by a light curl cream, and then a strong-hold gel or mousse. The leave-in adds moisture, the cream enhances the waves, and the gel locks everything in place without feeling crunchy once dried. This creates a beautiful foundation for bouncy beach waves. Drying for Definition: This is where the magic happens for achieving those defined waves! I start by 'micro-plopping' with a microfibre towel or old cotton t-shirt to gently squeeze out excess water. Then, I diffuse my hair on low heat and low speed, cupping sections of my hair in the diffuser bowl and lifting it towards my scalp. This helps to set the different types of wave patterns hair can have beautifully. If I'm short on time, I’ll air dry, but diffusing really gives me that extra volume and bounce. The goal is to avoid touching your hair too much until it's completely dry to prevent frizz. One of the best things about having wavy hair is its versatility. POV your hair can do this....& it can do this means you can rock your natural waves one day and effortlessly switch to a more styled look the next! If you're someone whose hair can go from straight to wavy with a bit of effort (or vice versa), this routine will help you embrace your natural texture. For beach waves hair women often see on social media, I sometimes use a sea salt spray before diffusing, or gently finger-coil some sections to enhance the curl. Don't be afraid to experiment! Even if you're an old woman with wavy hair, these timeless techniques can help you achieve stunning, youthful-looking styles. Wavy hair is beautiful at any age, and a good routine just enhances its natural charm. Embracing your unique wave pattern, whether it's a loose 2a or a more defined 2c, is the first step to truly loving your hair.
