... Read moreLoaded baked potato soup is a classic comfort dish that brings warmth and delicious flavors together in one bowl. Using a crockpot for this recipe makes it incredibly easy to prepare, allowing the potatoes to soften slowly and absorb the blend of creamy ingredients and aromatic seasonings. When making loaded baked potato soup, it's important to use a variety of potatoes such as russet or Yukon gold for the best texture. The cream of chicken soup adds a creamy base, while the cream cheese enhances the soup's richness and smooth mouthfeel. Sharp cheddar cheese gives the perfect tangy, melty flavor that defines this dish. Bacon plays a crucial role not just as a topping, but also in the cooking process. Cooking some bacon to render its fat and then using part of the grease to sauté onions builds an essential smoky and savory foundation for the soup’s flavor. Thickening the soup with flour after sautéing the onions helps achieve a perfect, velvety consistency. For those seeking customization, consider adding other toppings like shredded green onions, extra cheese, or even a drizzle of hot sauce to elevate the flavor profile. Seasoning is key to balancing the soup’s flavors. A mix of salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, and ranch seasoning creates layers of warmth, spice, and herbaceous notes that make every spoonful satisfying. Slow cooking the soup between 5 to 7 hours on high allows the potatoes to become tender enough to mash slightly, thickening the soup naturally and enhancing its comfort food appeal. Don’t forget to finish with classic toppings such as sour cream and chopped chives, adding freshness and creaminess right before serving. This recipe is ideal for cozy dinners, meal prepping, or feeding a crowd during colder months. Its hearty, flavorful nature makes it a go-to solution for anyone craving a rich and satisfying soup that’s easy to prepare in advance. Enjoy this loaded baked potato soup as a wholesome meal or pair it with warm bread or a fresh salad for a complete experience.
