Things I wish I knew before I started working out

At this point in my life I've been consistently working out for 5+ years, but I was a beginner once. I remember trying to figure all the ins and outs of exercising and all of the questions that ran through my head on a daily basis -

how do I build muscle? how do I track my progress? how do I get the most effective and efficient workout possible? why don't I look like this person that I follow online? how many times a week do I need to workout to see results?

I know what it's like to feel lost when first beginning to workout, so here are 10 things I wish I knew before starting my fitness journey. If you would like me to make a more in depth post about this one, please let me know! ❤️

One critical aspect is understanding that proper form outweighs the amount of weight lifted; this prevents injuries and sets a solid foundation. Additionally, the focus should not solely be on the scale; measuring progress through strength gains and overall well-being can provide more accurate insights into your journey. Nutritional intake is also paramount; ensuring adequate caloric intake is essential for muscle growth, as mere workouts won’t suffice. Longer workouts don't always equate to better results—quality often trumps quantity in fitness. Moreover, establishing a mind-body connection can enhance workout effectiveness and enjoyment. Lastly, remain cautious about fitness influencers online; their routines may not always be suited for you. Supplements can assist but are not a substitute for hard work and proper nutrition. By understanding these fundamentals, beginners can embark on their fitness journey with more confidence and knowledge.
