Weekly digital detox method

Tell me if this sounds like you 👇

Every week, “less screentime” makes its way onto your weekly intentions list. But come Monday, a brief check of emails spirals into an hour lost to social media scrolling.

By Wednesday, you feel mentally drained but your intention of cutting down screentime fades all together. The cycle repeats.

LET'S STOP IT IN ITS TRACKS

✨ Monday - Make a list of screen-free activities you can do this week that fill your cup or you’ve been thinking about trying for a while. Start the week off strong by checking something off of that list!

✨ Tuesday - It’s time for a complete digital declutter. This might look like:

deleting all unused apps

turning off notifications

unsubscribing from emails that no longer serve you

cleaning out your camera roll

unfollowing

✨ Wednesday - Eat at least one meal today without any screens or distractions. Pay attention to the flavors of your food, the smells, the colors, how your body feels as you eat, your fullness and hunger cues, etc.

✨ Thursday - Get in bed an hour before your ideal bedtime and put (or charge) your phone in a different room. Write down step-by-step what you want tomorrow’s morning routine to look like.

✨ Friday - Go out in public for at least an hour and leave your phone at home.

BONUS: incorporate nature in this one - think a nature walk, hike, visit a park, botanical garden, etc.

✨ Saturday - Identify the social media apps that you spend the most time on and delete them from your phone today.

✨ Sunday - Turn your phone off for the entire day. Trust me, it’s not as hard as you think, especially if you have a solid plan in place ahead of time.

A digital detox can significantly enhance your quality of life, helping you to refocus on what truly matters. On Monday, begin by brainstorming a list of engaging screen-free activities that excite you and that you’ve always wanted to try. This could include hobbies like painting, hiking, or cooking new recipes. The goal is to create a fulfilling alternative to screen use. Tuesday is ideal for decluttering your digital space. This not only includes removing unused apps but also taking control of your notifications and email subscriptions. This simple act can reduce overwhelming digital noise and promote a feeling of calm. Come Wednesday, challenge yourself to immerse in a screen-free meal experience.
