At the beginning of this year I made it a serious goal of mine to start dating myself more in 2024 - meaning, block out a period of time in my calendar, get dressed up for it in an outfit I feel confident in, and commit.
Here's some of the most shocking benefits I've gotten out of dating myself so far:
✨ boosted sense of independence and confidence in my ability to do hard things
✨ reduced stress and less likely to burn out
✨ more self love babyyy
✨ more creativity and all around inspiration with creative projects
✨ and perhaps the most surprising of all, since I've been trying to film all of my solo dates and make little vloggy vlogs out of them - I've gotten WAY more comfortable filming in public (even bringing my tripod everywhere with me) and I don't care as much what people think of me. After all, I'll probably never see them again, right? Seriously, everyone is so wrapped up in their own world that they're going to forget you exist within 5 minutes
So if you're seeing this post today, take this as your sign to start dating yourself NOW, because I promise you it's so so worth it. The things you learn about yourself and the experiences/memories you make along the way will be invaluable❤️
Are you going to try any of these? Let me know in the comments!
... Read moreStarting my solo date journey was a revelation! Like many, I initially wondered, 'What should I treat myself to?' and 'Where are the good places to go alone?' I quickly learned that solo dates aren't just about spending time by yourself; they're about intentional self-love and discovery. It's truly a unique 'selfdate' experience that can bring so much joy and confidence, just as the original article mentioned.
The beauty of solo dating is its versatility. You don't need a big budget or elaborate plans. For example, I've found so much delight in simple, 'good cheap date ideas.' One of my favorites is to 'go thrift store hopping.' It's like a treasure hunt, and you never know what gems you'll uncover! If you're feeling creative at home, 'experiment in the kitchen' with a new recipe you've always wanted to try. The smell alone is a treat! Outdoors, consider heading to 'a park and fly a kite' – it’s wonderfully liberating and brings out your inner child. Or, for a cozy evening, 'make a blanket fort and read' that book you’ve been meaning to dive into. These activities are perfect for 'solo date ideas female' because they cater to personal interests without external pressure.
Beyond the activity itself, cultivating a 'self date aesthetic' is key to making these moments truly memorable. It's about setting an intention and making an effort for *yourself*. This could mean choosing an outfit that makes you feel amazing, even if you’re just going to a quiet café, or curating a playlist that perfectly matches your mood. The act of making these moments aesthetically pleasing, even if just for your own enjoyment, enhances the feeling of treating yourself. It reinforces the idea that you are worthy of beautiful experiences, which directly contributes to boosting self-love and confidence.
For those seeking inspiration, thinking about 'single solo date quotes' or 'self date quotes' can be really uplifting. A personal favorite is, 'You are your own soulmate.' It's a powerful reminder that self-sufficiency is a strength, not a void. When sharing your solo date experiences, these quotes also make for thoughtful 'solo date captions' that can inspire your friends and community. They highlight the deeper meaning behind these seemingly simple acts of dating yourself.
Embracing solo dates is truly one of the 'cool things to try in life.' It’s a journey of personal growth, proving to yourself that you are complete and capable on your own. Whether it’s a quiet coffee shop visit or an adventurous day out, each solo date is a precious investment in your own happiness and well-being. So go ahead, block out that calendar, dress up, and commit – you’re about to discover a whole new level of self-love!
