Day 1 of Tech Week | Into the Woods 🌸✨

... Read moreWaking up after a cruise and diving straight into something as intense as tech week for 'Into the Woods' was definitely a whirlwind! My first day started bright and early, and as you can see from the pics, fueling up was crucial. That bowl of oatmeal with strawberries wasn't just a meal; it was pure energy to face the long day ahead. And my green 'York College Alumni' mug, filled with tea, is always my go-to comfort. A quick shower to 'not stink' (as the saying goes!) and then it was off to my favorite coffee place for that perfect two-toned iced coffee – a little ritual that helps kickstart the brain for all the blocking and cues coming my way. The drive to the theatre always feels charged with anticipation. My 'Into the Woods' script sat right next to me in the car, a constant reminder of the magic we're trying to create, alongside my 'Mean Girls' tote bag, ready for all the essentials. Arriving at the theatre, the buzzing energy is palpable. Costumes are being fitted, lights are being focused, and the sound team is running checks. It's a symphony of organized chaos, and I wouldn't have it any other way. Stepping into the dressing room, it's a mix of excitement and nerves. Just yesterday I was on a cruise, and today I'm transforming into Rapunzel! It’s funny how quickly you adapt. Before getting into my principal role, I even had a moment playing a peasant, which is always a fun way to warm up and get into character before the big transformation. The mirror selfies are a must, capturing those moments of quiet concentration before the stage calls. Playing Rapunzel has been a dream for so long, and seeing all the elements of 'Into the Woods' come together during tech week is truly magical. From the intricate set designs to the precise lighting cues, every detail adds to the storytelling. There are moments of intense focus, long hours, and definitely a need for constant hydration and vocal rest. But when you see the entire cast and crew working in harmony, bringing this incredible musical to life, all the hard work feels incredibly rewarding. The feeling of the show finally clicking into place, with all the technical aspects synchronized, is what makes tech week so special. It's a marathon, not a sprint, but I'm embracing every moment. The blend of my post-cruise relaxation with the adrenaline of tech week is an interesting dynamic! I truly hope you get a chance to experience the magic we're creating on stage. Come see 'Into the Woods' from Thursday to Sunday – it’s going to be an unforgettable show!
