I Saw Moulin Rouge on Broadway 🍷🖤💋

Yesterday my mom headed into the city for our bi-annual broadway trip and we decided to check out Moulin Rouge! When we first arrived, it wasn’t our first choice as we usually go to the TKTS booth and pick, but the line was SO long and the two shows we had on our list got booted. But I remember hearing the soundtrack for Moulin Rouge and we decided to give it a go!

And boy it did not disappoint! Moulin Rouge is a jukebox musical and has so many modern and contemporary songs for everyone to enjoy! It was funny, serious, dramatic, suspenseful and just all around a good time!

I would definitely recommend seeing it if you’re in the city!

The Al Hirschfeld Theatre transforms into an opulent Parisian nightclub, with a striking red patterned wall and luxurious decor. My eyes were immediately drawn to the large neon sign spelling out 'Moulin Rouge' and, of course, the distinctive heart-shaped light fixture above it. It's these kinds of details that really transport you, making you feel like you’ve stepped into the movie itself. Even holding my reusable cup with the show's logo felt like part of the grand experience. But the true spectacle unfolds when the show begins, revealing the breathtaking Moulin Rouge Broadway stage design. The famous red windmill set dominates the left side of the stage, a towering, intricate piece of art that’s even more impressive in person. And on the right, the majestic elephant set piece stands as a silent sentinel, adding to the exotic and extravagant atmosphere. These iconic elements, coupled with the dynamic red lights that wash over the stage, create an unforgettable backdrop for the performances. The lighting design throughout the show is phenomenal, capable of shifting from intimate glows to dazzling, full-stage spectacles, perfectly complementing the musical's emotional range. It's not just a stage; it's a character in itself, enhancing every song and scene. The attention to detail in creating such a rich, visual world truly elevates the entire 'jukebox musical' experience, making it a must-see for anyone visiting Broadway.
