End of my Journalism Journey 🎥🗞️

Yesterday was my last day as a multimedia journalist at WMBC and it’s so bittersweet. I’m so grateful for this incredible experience to tell so many people’s stories, share new information, and visit so many new places.

I’ve made so many connections out in the field and at the station, that I really hope I made some impact with my storytelling. While I’m going to miss the variety everyday, I’m happy to announce I’ll be returning to the world of digital marketing.

In my experience, working as a multimedia journalist involved not just reporting facts, but capturing diverse human stories that resonate deeply with viewers. The early mornings, such as waking up at 4 AM to observe the morning news show, were challenging but rewarding, giving me insight into the fast-paced world of broadcast news. Covering a variety of topics allowed me to develop a versatile skill set, from field reporting to anchoring weekend news shows, which broadened my storytelling abilities and boosted my confidence. Making meaningful connections with colleagues helped build a supportive network that I treasure even as I step into a new role. The creative aspects, including editing with color presets and digital effects, added an aesthetic touch that enhanced viewer engagement. Now, shifting to digital marketing, I’m excited to leverage my storytelling skills in a new context—crafting compelling content that drives engagement online. This journey reminds me how adaptable and valuable journalistic skills are, especially when paired with digital strategies. For anyone considering a career pivot, embracing your past experiences while being open to new challenges can lead to fulfilling opportunities. Reflecting on my journalism era, I’m grateful for the lessons learned and eager to make an impact in digital marketing with the same passion and dedication.
