Korean Heaven Hits LA
Last year I went to KCON and had no idea it wasn’t just for K-pop! If you’re a lover of K-Beauty too there’s a lot of opportunities for some freebies and getting familiar with all things Korean. It will be happening this year in August and it’s held at the LA Convention Center.
A highly recommended activity for someone who loves the culture and wants to learn more.
My experience at KCON LA last year was truly eye-opening, and I realized it’s so much more than just a K-Pop concert! While the original article just scratches the surface, I wanted to dive deeper into what makes KCON LA such an unforgettable event, especially for those of you already looking ahead to KCON LA 2026. If you're into K-Pop, K-Beauty, or just Korean culture in general, you absolutely need to add this to your must-do list. My biggest surprise at KCON LA was definitely the K-Beauty Street! I initially thought it was all about K-Pop, but oh boy, was I wrong. The sheer number of brands, from established names to exciting newcomers like 'colorgram' (which I spotted everywhere!), was incredible. I even picked up some samples and learned about new products. For anyone planning to go, keep an eye out for brands that might be similar to a 'luv sweetk' vibe – often, they have the best freebies and interactive booths. I loved seeing the 'K-BEAUTY NEWS' magazines; they were a goldmine for upcoming trends and product launches. It's not just about getting free stuff, though that's always a bonus! My best advice for freebies is to engage with the booths, participate in their mini-games or surveys, and download their apps if they have them. Sometimes, just following them on social media can land you some amazing samples. It’s about discovering what’s new and next in Korean skincare and makeup, from sheet masks to innovative color cosmetics. Of course, K-Pop is still the heart of KCON. The energy during the concert was absolutely electric! Seeing artists like BIBI and even a glimpse of Kepler on the big screens truly brought the house down. The sea of light sticks, the fan chants, the pure joy – it’s an experience you have to feel to understand. The 'MUSEUM OF KCON' was also a fantastic addition, giving a deeper dive into the history and impact of K-Pop and Korean culture. It helped me appreciate how much goes into making K-Pop the global phenomenon it is today. You'll find so many photo opportunities and interactive exhibits that make the whole experience even richer. If you're already thinking about KCON LA 2026 (smart move!), here are a few tips from my experience. First, wear comfy shoes – you'll be doing a lot of walking, from exploring the convention center floor to queuing for booths. Second, bring a portable charger; your phone will be working overtime with photos and videos! Third, plan your day. With so much to see and do, from panels to artist meet-and-greets and the K-Beauty Street, having a rough schedule helps. Keep an eye on the official KCON LA website for early bird tickets and the artist lineup as soon as it's announced. The LA Convention Center is huge, so familiarize yourself with the layout beforehand if you can. And don't forget to hydrate! It gets busy and exciting. Whether you're there for the latest K-Beauty trends, to see your favorite K-Pop idols, or just to soak in the vibrant Korean culture, KCON LA is an unforgettable event. I'm already looking forward to seeing what KCON LA 2026 will bring!
