Earth is TEMPORARY, Heaven is PERMANENT
Jesus is teaching that what you value most will naturally capture your heart, attention, and priorities. Your “treasure” isn’t just money, it can be time, relationships, status, habits, or anything you invest yourself in.
•If your treasure is earthly (money, possessions, approval), your heart will be tied to things that can fade or fail.
•If your treasure is heavenly (God, faith, obedience, eternal purpose), your heart will be anchored in what lasts forever.
Reflecting on the message ‘For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also’ from Matthew 6:21, I have found this teaching to resonate deeply in everyday life. Often, we get caught up in accumulating possessions, achievements, or seeking approval from others, thinking these will bring lasting happiness. However, from personal experience, focusing on these earthly treasures feels unstable and fleeting. Shifting focus toward heavenly treasures—such as nurturing faith, cultivating obedience, and pursuing an eternal purpose—brings a sense of peace and grounding that is not shaken by life's ups and downs. I have noticed that when my priorities align with spiritual growth and meaningful relationships, my heart feels anchored and content, regardless of external circumstances. It's a gradual process to reorient what we value, especially given societal pressures to chase material success. But remembering that earthly things can fade empowers us to invest time and energy into what truly lasts. This doesn't mean abandoning practical needs, but rather not letting them control our hearts or define our worth. Ultimately, this teaching calls us to evaluate what we treasure daily, encouraging us to align our lives with eternal truths that foster genuine joy and resilience.
