Stingray @ Grand Cayman

Stepping into the crystal-clear turquoise waters of Stingray City, Grand Cayman, for the very first time was truly surreal. Even with some dark clouds, the sun reflection off the water is intense. A waterproof phone case or camera is a must – you'll want to capture every moment of these interactions! Don't be afraid to ask the guides questions; they are incredibly knowledgeable about the stingrays and their behavior. They’ll show you how to safely pet them (gently, along their backs, not their tails!). Wear comfortable swimwear, perhaps an orange bikini top like the one in the image, and sunglasses, as the glare can be strong. It’s a common question: are stingrays dangerous? At Stingray City, these stingrays are accustomed to human interaction and are usually very docile. The guides teach you proper etiquette to ensure both your safety and the well-being of the stingrays. They are truly gentle giants of the sea. The experience of seeing a 'raft' – a group of stingrays – gliding together through the clear water is something I'll never forget.
