fishing!!!!

My recent trip to Stony Creek Metropark, even without a catch, really got me thinking about how to make the most of fishing days there. I saw so many beautiful spots, from the calm waters where the sunlight reflects brightly to the more shaded areas under dense lines of trees. It made me wonder about the best ways to approach fishing at such a popular spot. While I haven't found a formal 'Stony Creek Anglers Fishery' group yet, I've started looking into local fishing communities. Observing other anglers during my visit, especially those standing in the shallow water with their fishing rods, gave me some ideas. It seems like the areas near the green grass banks and where the lake has gentle ripples are quite popular. I also noticed people setting up near picnic tables with their gear, suggesting some spots are great for a longer stay, maybe with a grill and drinks nearby for a full day out! One thing I'm keen to do for my next trip is connect with other local fishing enthusiasts. I've heard whispers of various informal fishing groups, perhaps even like a 'Skyway Misfits fishing group' – people who just love to fish and share tips. It would be amazing to learn from experienced anglers about the best bait for Stony Creek's waters or the prime times to cast a line. I'm thinking of checking out local bait shops or online forums to see if I can find any meetups or regular fishing buddies who frequent the park. During my visit, I saw a variety of fishing setups. Some were casting from the banks, while others, like the person I saw, were standing in the shallow water of the lake, holding a fishing rod with a red and white bobber visible. This makes me think about trying different techniques next time. Maybe a bit of wading could get me to those elusive spots! The dirt paths winding through the lush green forest also suggest there are many hidden access points to the lake, perfect for exploring a new fishing location away from the crowds. Beyond just the fishing itself, Stony Creek offers such a beautiful environment. Even on a cloudy sky day, the scenery is stunning. Remember to pack essentials – sun protection, snacks, and water. And don't forget a camera to capture those wide views of the lake! My personal goal for the next trip is to actually land a fish, but even if I don't, just being out there, enjoying nature, and perhaps even spotting a dog enjoying the lake, is a win in my book. Who knows, maybe I'll even see someone casually enjoying a half grapefruit by the water like I did!
