Help fight food insecurity! 👊

Countless disabled Americans and impoverished children (among others) may not receive money for groceries this month due to the government shutdown. Here’s how you can help. (And no, this isn’t an open discussion for who you think deserves SNAP.)

1. Donate to your local food bank. They will often have a wishlist on their social media or website, or just think about things you like to eat and contribute that.

2. Make freezer meals and deliver them to community members in need. Local Facebook groups are a good place to ask who needs some extra food!

3. Volunteer at local soup kitchens or meal distribution organizations. Give your time cooking or serving food to the community.

4. Offer rides to work, school, medical appointments, food pantries, etc.

5. Offer to babysit. Working parents might need help while they work extra hours to cover the deficit.

6. Share mutual aid requests and contribute if you’re able.

7. Offer to foster an animal temporarily.

8. Join your local buy nothing or freecycle group and offer up items you would throw away or donate otherwise. It’s a give/receive free economy!
