Where are my woman ranchers & farmers at !?!

... Read moreBeing a woman in agriculture, whether you're managing a ranch or farming acres, is an incredibly rewarding journey, but let's be honest – it often comes with its own set of unique hurdles. I’ve personally experienced days where I felt like I was the only one braving the weather with my *livestock*, battling both the elements and the occasional feeling of isolation. That's why finding your tribe, your community of fellow women farmers and ranchers, is so incredibly vital. Many of us are looking for that connection, a place where we can share triumphs, vent frustrations, and learn from each other's wisdom. One of the best ways to combat this isolation and gain invaluable insights is by connecting with *organisations to support female farmers*. These groups aren't just about networking; they're about building a strong foundation of mutual support, whether it's through mentorship programs, shared resources, or simply knowing there's someone else out there who 'gets it'. Think about the practical benefits: troubleshooting equipment issues, finding advice on sustainable practices, or even just swapping tips for managing your homestead efficiently. Beyond the practical, there's the immense emotional support. When you're facing a tough season, or dealing with the challenges of raising livestock through extreme conditions, having a network of women who understand can make all the difference. They can offer encouragement, share their own experiences of *braving the weather*, and remind you that you're not alone in this demanding, yet beautiful, lifestyle. I've seen firsthand how these communities empower women to thrive in roles that were once predominantly male. From local agricultural associations with dedicated women's groups to national alliances and vibrant online forums, there are numerous avenues to explore. Don't be afraid to put yourself out there and seek out these connections. Attend local farm shows, look for webinars hosted by women in agriculture, or simply search online for 'women in farming groups' in your area. You might be surprised by how many incredible women are just waiting to connect. Building these networks strengthens us individually and collectively. It creates a powerful voice for women in agriculture, advocating for our needs and ensuring our contributions are recognized. So, if you're a woman with *livestock*, or any kind of farming endeavor, and you're feeling that call for community, know that there are countless others like you. Let's find each other, lift each other up, and continue to grow and succeed together in this amazing field.

Happy Momma Cow.
This photo was from last year. We had a late calver, she had her calf safely hidden in the tall grass next to her. We usually calve in January-Early March. And this one had her calf the May. So both her and the calf were sold, due to the fact she would calve late again the following year.
