Pumpkin Spice has arrived…
Has it occurred to anyone that we rush the seasons? Hear me out… I LOVE the fall. And I Cannot get enough pumpkin spice. It’s my jam. It’s my go to spice combo for most of my witchin’ needs. And last year I never got to try these pumpkin spice rolls, because I passed on them trying to stick to my “no pumpkin spice before September 1st” rule. By the time that rolled around, the Christmas flavors abounded! So you best believe I snatched up one can of those to try…
Let me try to get to my point. I live in Maine, where the winters are long, blustery, and just plain COLD! 🥶 Our winters can be depressing at times with the cold and dark days, if you let them get you down. Our summers are beautiful but man, are they short! In my life, I’ve learned to just plain wear myself out on summer activities so that by the time fall rolls around I’m sick of the heat and the beach, and happy to move into cozy Pumpkin Spice Season, and keep wearing myself out until I’m happy to hibernate for at least a few months, giving my body a rest. Usually by my birthday, in February— yeah, I am the water bearer, an Aquarius ♒️, I’m going stir crazy cabin fever mode, waiting for spring!
So here is my point. I love the fall! Especially in this state I love so much, Maine. BUT I can wait for it to get here! I can wait for the pumpkin spice, cozy clothes, the crunchy scrape of fallen leaves as they blow across the pavement. I can wait for the short dark days, the beautiful foliage and “spoopy” season, as I call it, fondly. I can wait for those days, because I am busy trying to soak up the last bit of those precious sun-soaked vitamin D rays, they are too far and between here to begin with.
Why are we always rushing it by? Why is it that first thing July 5? Everyone starts talking about Halloween and lamenting that they want to put on their sweatsuits? I’m just as happy turning up the air conditioner to wear my sweatsuit for now😅 BUT I am gonna sneak those pumpkin spice rolls in, before the first of September.
📍Location: Old Town, Maine.
