Stuff I’ve made for my ocean themed bathroom

I’ve always loved the ocean and anything sea turtle themed. I plan to make more stuff but for now these are two things I’ve made so far.

1. Lighthouse painting

I sat this canvas outside in a ziplock bag with dots of paint on it while it was raining , then painted what I saw! A fun little activity to try

2. Seashell art

For this I used shells I’ve collected over time that I have found at the beach and hot glued onto a wooden sign I picked up from dollar tree. Then just found a quote I liked.

I have a little blue shelf in my bathroom as well that I wanna do something with to go along with my theme but not sure how I want to do it yet. Ideas are welcome :)

When I started my own project, I found that adding personal touches like a lighthouse painting and seashell art made the space feel truly unique and calming. The lighthouse painting, crafted by placing a canvas in a ziplock bag with paint dots during a rain shower, was a surprisingly therapeutic experience. The rain naturally blended the colors, creating a watery effect that perfectly captures the ocean’s mood. If you're trying this, I recommend experimenting with different color palettes—blues, greys, and whites work well—to evoke the coastal atmosphere. For the seashell art, using shells gathered from various beach trips adds a nostalgic value. I used a simple wooden sign from a budget-friendly store and arranged the shells before gluing them down. Adding a meaningful quote about the sea helps to tie the entire piece together and can inspire anyone who sees it. If you want to enhance the look, try lightly sanding and painting the wooden base in shades of seafoam green or sandy beige. To extend the oceanic theme, consider decorating small shelves with miniature glass jars filled with sand and tiny shells, or place tealight candles in holders resembling coral or sea glass. Another idea is to use sea turtle motifs on towels or shower curtains to add a whimsical touch. The joy of DIY is in the personalization and the memories created while crafting. Each piece tells a story—from the beaches where the shells were found to the rainy day when the painting took shape. This approach not only adds charm but creates a bathroom space that feels like a peaceful seashore getaway right in your home.
