I remember spending so much time, just like many of us do, chasing after what the world calls 'beauty.' It was always about the perfect look, the right clothes, having my long, straight dark hair styled just so, or feeling confident in a ribbed long-sleeve top. I'd spend hours posing, trying to capture that ideal image, constantly comparing myself to others, and feeling like I was always falling short. The pursuit was exhausting, and the moments of feeling 'beautiful' were fleeting, often tied to external validation or a specific compliment. Even when I thought I achieved it, there was always something missing – a nagging feeling that it wasn't enough, or that the feeling of 'beauty' was temporary. That's when my journey truly began, a journey that led me to understand that true beauty isn't found in what mirrors reflect back at us, but in something much deeper and eternal. For me, that profound realization came through my relationship with Jesus. It wasn't an overnight change, but a gradual unfolding, a whisper of peace that grew louder and louder in my heart. I began to see myself, and the world, through a different lens. Before, I was searching for validation externally, believing my worth was tied to how well I could present myself or how others perceived me. Now, I understand that God's love is the ultimate source of our worth and, therefore, our true beauty. When you truly connect with God, you discover a profound sense of self-acceptance and a peace that surpasses all understanding. This inner peace radiates outwards, transforming your entire perspective on life and on yourself. It's about being 'saved' not just from sin, but from the relentless pressure to conform to superficial standards and from the endless cycle of comparison that often leaves us feeling inadequate. This spiritual transformation has been everything. I've learned that kindness, compassion, humility, resilience, and a heart full of grace are the real adornments that make a person truly radiant. My focus shifted from perfecting my outward appearance to nurturing my spirit, cultivating a heart that reflects God's boundless love. It's not that I stopped caring about how I look – I still enjoy expressing myself through my personal style, like choosing a comfortable yet chic ribbed long-sleeve top or taking the time to style my long, straight dark hair. But now, it comes from a place of joy, gratitude, and self-acceptance, not a desperate need for external approval or a desire to fit into a mold. The genuine confidence I feel today comes purely from within, from knowing who I am in Christ and understanding that I am wonderfully and uniquely made. When I look at myself now, or pose for a photo, I see more than just a fleeting reflection; I see a soul filled with purpose, profound peace, and an authentic radiance that no amount of makeup, trendy clothes, or perfect poses could ever create. It’s a beauty that doesn't fade with time or circumstance because it's rooted in something unchanging and eternal. This journey has taught me that real beauty starts from the inside out.
