Cleansers: Why you need at least two 🫧
Before submersing myself into the skincare world for over a decade now there was a time when I thought cleansers weren’t all that important because it’s a wash off product but let me tell you, THEY MATTER!
Cleansers set the tone for your overall skincare routine and it’s important to know which to grab especially when your skin is freaking out.
Always have a go to gentle cleanser. Something that doesn’t include any harsh active, can soothe irritation and remove makeup effectively. This type of cleanser will be great for everyday use and is a good starting point if you’re overwhelmed by all the options out there.
Another you should have is something that exfoliates the skin, so something with acids. I have a routine just for when I want to focus on exfoliating and an exfoliating cleanser helps prep your skin before using other products with AHA’’s, BHA’s and PHA’s. These type of cleansers are also used before applying professional grade chemical peels.

Cleansers play a pivotal role in maintaining healthy skin by not only removing impurities but also preparing the skin for subsequent skincare products. Gentle cleansers are vital for daily use, providing a soothing way to cleanse without stripping the skin's moisture. Exfoliating cleansers, on the other hand, contain active ingredients such as AHA (alpha-hydroxy acids) and BHA (beta-hydroxy acids) that help in removing dead skin cells, unclogging pores, and enhancing skin texture. Incorporating both types can maximize your skincare benefits and address different skin concerns effectively. When selecting a gentle cleanser, look for products that hydrate and soothe while effectively removing makeup and daily grime. For optimal results, consider dermatologically tested formulas that support the skin's barrier function. Likewise, your exfoliating cleanser should have a balanced concentration of exfoliants to promote a radiant complexion without irritation. Brands like Skin Script offer specialized options, such as the Green Tea Citrus Cleanser and Honey Brightening Cleanser, which address unique skin issues through their specialized ingredients like mandelic acid and Black BeeOmeâ„¢. Using the right combination of cleansers can promote clarity, balance excess oil, and improve your skin's overall texture. It's a foundational step in any skincare routine that shouldn't be overlooked, making skin look fresher and more vibrant. Integrating both gentle and exfoliating cleansers will not only prep your skin for absorbing serums and moisturizers better but will also enhance the efficacy of chemical peels if you incorporate those into your routine down the line.
