... Read moreWhen I started reading 'Ask for Andrea' by Noelle W. Ihli, I was immediately drawn into the unique premise. The story revolves around the compelling mystery of three girls, whose ghosts are actively trying to piece together what happened to them. The idea of these spectral protagonists seeking justice definitely piqued my interest from the beginning. As the OCR captured from my initial thoughts, my overall feeling for this book was 'pretty mid.' I'm not gonna lie, I had a lot of expectations for this one, especially with such an intriguing setup, but it ended up being just fine. Giving it 3 stars felt appropriate for my experience; it was a decent read, but not one that will stick with me for a long time. The narrative focuses on the ghosts of three girls who were taken, and their efforts to put the pieces together to uncover who was responsible and why he's doing this. They need to band forces to stop the perpetrator from doing this again. This element of ghostly detectives was a strong point and created some suspense. I found myself wanting to know the truth alongside them, which kept me turning the pages. However, while the central mystery held my attention, I wished for a stronger connection with some of the human characters, or perhaps more intricate plot twists that truly surprised me. For those looking for a quick, somewhat supernatural thriller with a unique concept, 'Ask for Andrea' might hit the spot. It's a book that delivers on its premise to a certain extent, but perhaps doesn't delve as deep as it could in terms of emotional impact or complex character development. Overall, 'Ask for Andrea' by Noelle W. Ihli offers an interesting concept, but for me, it didn't quite reach its full potential. It's a decent read if you're in the mood for a moderately paced ghostly mystery, but don't go in expecting a mind-blowing experience. My 3-star rating reflects a book that was enjoyable enough for the time I spent with it, but didn't leave a lasting impression that would make me recommend it enthusiastically to everyone.
