DITL as a hospital PSA/CNA/PCT 🏥🩺
I have worked as a PSA for almost 8 years! I recently switched to PRN as i got a job closer to home with better hours. I still usually work every 3rd weekend at the hospital though! I love being a float because it’s really nice to see different units/specialties. So i stay learning new things even after all these years! #healthcare #lemon8challenge #patientcaretech #diml Ohio
In the fast-paced world of healthcare, the role of a Patient Service Assistant (PSA) is vital for ensuring patient comfort and safety. As a PSA, responsibilities typically include assisting nurses with daily activities such as checking vital signs, monitoring blood sugar levels, and helping patients with their daily needs. One of the most rewarding aspects of this job is the opportunity to learn continuously by rotating through various units, which exposes you to different specialties and expands your skill set. Working as a float can be challenging due to the unpredictability of assignments, but it also allows nurses and PSAs to adapt quickly to new environments and learn from diverse teams. Engaging in staff huddles at the beginning of shifts ensures that every team member is aligned with patient care goals. Additionally, having effective communication with nursing assistants is crucial, making transitions smoother throughout the day. Each shift brings unique challenges; therefore, developing a flexible routine is essential. For instance, conducting rounds on patients at scheduled intervals helps maintain an organized approach to care while addressing any urgent needs that arise. During these rounds, maintaining patient safety and comfort is always a priority, particularly during meals and after procedures. Overall, the role of a PSA provides invaluable contributions to the healthcare system, and every day presents a chance to improve and make a difference in patients' lives.
