Wrong Place For Trust
Trust didn’t fail you…
It just wasn’t given
the right place to land.
So now the challenge isn’t shutting it down~
Holding onto a reluctance~
To give it much value again.
It’s learning
where it belongs.
So I have to ask…
Where did you place your trust~
That it was never meant to stay?
Trust is a fragile but essential part of human relationships, whether personal or professional. From my own experiences, I've realized that when trust is misplaced, the fallout can be discouraging—not because trust itself is flawed, but because it simply wasn’t given to the right person or situation. For example, trusting someone who doesn't value or respect that trust can create pain and doubt, which then makes it difficult to give trust again. The key is not to shut down emotionally or become overly reluctant, but to recognize cues that indicate where trust should be placed. I found that clear communication and setting healthy boundaries help in discerning where trust can be safely extended. It's also important to reflect on past experiences, not to dwell on betrayal but to learn from patterns about where my trust thrived and where it didn’t. Building trust also means being trustworthy yourself, which encourages others to reciprocate in a safe space. This personal growth journey taught me that trust is not a one-time transaction but a continual process of mutual respect and understanding. In summary, trust didn’t fail me; it was my responsibility to find the right place for it to land and grow. This mindset shift transformed how I approach relationships now, making me more open yet cautious—valuing trust but giving it wisely and where it belongs.
