You teach a person how to treat you by what you tolerate. #fyp
From my experience, the idea that you teach a person how to treat you by what you tolerate really resonates. When we allow unacceptable behavior to persist, it unconsciously signals to others that such treatment is okay. I’ve noticed that ignoring negative attention or disrespect can sometimes cause people to reassess how they treat you. For example, when someone ignores a person who mistreats them, that person may be prompted to pursue them more respectfully. In relationships, setting boundaries is crucial. It’s not about controlling others but about defining what you find acceptable and what you don’t. When boundaries are clear and consistently enforced, it empowers you and clarifies the dynamics of respect and care. If someone continues to cross those boundaries despite being told, it often reflects more on them than on you. There’s also empowerment in walking away from relationships where your boundaries aren’t respected. It aligns with the part of the message that says "I don't need you." Sometimes the healthiest choice is to seek relationships where mutual respect is a given, not something to be negotiated constantly. In essence, this perspective encourages self-respect and emotional strength, helping us foster healthier relationships. It reminds us to be mindful of how our reactions and tolerance levels set expectations for how others engage with us.
