First Time Making Custom Bookmarks!
As I pulled out to read Twilight last night, I noticed I didn’t have any bookmarks for my book. Since my book was apart of a collectors edition, bending the page wasn’t an option either. I also do not have the money to drop $5+ dollars on a single bookmark, so why not make one I thought.
I decided to make a template in Canva of what I wanted it to look like, make the stretch on a thick piece of paper, and used my colored pencils, pastels, and a sharpie to color in everything. After that, I used some tape since I don’t have a laminator, and boom bookmark made.
It’s my first time doing this so I know it doesn’t look superrrr good, but it’s okay. If you don’t think it’s cute, then move on. There’s no need for snarky remarks.Thought it would be cool to show and it was very fun and easy to make!

Creating custom bookmarks is a delightful way for book lovers to add a personal touch to their reading experience. When I first realized I didn't have a bookmark for my Twilight collector's edition, I didn't want to risk damaging the pages or spend extra money on store-bought ones. Using Canva to design a template was a game changer—it allowed me to tailor the look exactly how I wanted it, even including fun Twilight-inspired phrases from the OCR content like "Bella, where the hell have you been?" This added a unique and playful element to the bookmark. If you don't have access to a laminator like I don't, using clear tape can effectively seal and protect your creation, ensuring durability without the hassle. Colored pencils, pastels, and sharpies are easy-to-find supplies that offer a range of artistic expression whether you prefer bold colors or soft shading. One important tip I learned is to choose a sturdy cardstock or thick paper as your base to give your bookmark strength, so it doesn’t bend or wear easily in your book. The process is fun and forgiving if you’re just starting out—it doesn't need to be perfect to be meaningful. Additionally, adding hand-drawn outlines or humorous quotes related to the book series not only makes your bookmark visually appealing but also brings a smile every time you open your book. This craft is a wonderful way to combine creativity with practicality, especially for collectors who want to preserve their books in pristine condition without spending extra. If you’re a fan of Twilight or other book series, try customizing your bookmarks with iconic characters or quotes. It’s a creative project that anyone can enjoy, enhances your reading journey, and makes a thoughtful gift for fellow bookworms. Plus, sharing your experience encourages others to embrace DIY crafts without the need for expensive tools or professional skills.
