Thoughts On This???
My personal opinion is this is kind of a depressing view of it. Why can’t we find ways to do what we need in a way that makes us happy or find joy.
For example, I hate eating broccoli, but I love to cook. I took my time and experimented with different recipes until I found broccoli I can truly enjoy eating. Maybe if you hate to exercise but enjoy swimming you can find a way to swim more because that’s exercise in itself and it’s fun.
I feel like the better way of saying it is: “Discipline is finding a way to enjoy what you must do.”
What are your thoughts?
In a world where we often dread the necessary tasks in our lives, such as exercise and healthful eating, changing our perspective can make a significant difference. Instead of viewing these tasks as burdens, we can find ways to integrate them into activities we enjoy. For instance, if cooking isn't your forte, experimenting with flavors and techniques can turn a disliked vegetable like broccoli into a delightful dish. Similarly, if traditional workouts feel tedious, embracing activities like swimming can provide fun and fitness concurrently. It's also useful to reflect on how discipline aligns with our passions. When we understand that discipline can be enjoyable rather than a chore, we begin to reshape our approach to daily tasks. Finding joy in discipline can lead to better health, increased motivation, and an overall improved mindset. Being disciplined doesn't mean depriving ourselves of joy; rather, it invites us to discover new ways to enjoy what we must do. By sharing these thoughts, we open up avenues for conversation and inspiration within the Lemon8 community. How do you find joy in activities that feel obligatory? Share your experiences and let's motivate one another!
