Teen Mom

I was pregnant when I was 19. And to a general population that is not a bad age, especially since her birth was right after I turned 20. She’s actually the same age as a lot of the teen mom MTV children. And because I was so sheltered, I felt like I was pregnant much younger, but because I was older, I definitely did not fit in with the Mom👩🏻 crowds. I honestly thought it was because I was so young that motherhood felt so lonely. Fast forward 10 years later I have my second child and it was even more lonely. I wish as a society here in the United States. We didn’t assume that mothers just have it together as an expectancy. Mothers and their children need so much support well and into young adulthood. #adultbaby #femlove #motherhoodjourney #lemon8creator #lemon8diarychallenge

The societal expectations placed on mothers can create immense pressure, making it feel like one must have everything figured out right from the start. In many communities, the dialogue around young parenthood rarely emphasizes the need for ongoing support, which is crucial as both mothers and their children grow into young adulthood. Research highlights that teen moms may face higher instances of mental health challenges, yet the stigma often leaves them feeling alone. Building a support network consisting of family, friends, and community resources can help navigate these hurdles. Additionally, engaging in discussions with other mothers who have faced similar experiences can provide comfort and understanding. With supportive structures in place, young mothers can thrive both in their parenting roles and in their personal development. Programs designed to assist teen parents can empower them with the tools necessary for successful parenting and self-care. As society evolves, it's essential to advocate for more inclusive conversations around young motherhood, ensuring that all mothers receive the encouragement and aid they truly need.
