This wasn’t in the brochure!

Why did no one warn us about THIS part of our 30’s? Comment “ME TO” if you’re in this season. 🤍

... Read moreEntering your 30s often brings unexpected responsibilities that many people aren’t prepared for. One of the biggest surprises is the role reversal where you find yourself caring for your aging parents while still raising teenagers and managing your household. This phase is often called the 'sandwich generation,' a term that perfectly describes being squeezed between two demanding caregiving roles. Personally, I’ve experienced how emotionally and physically taxing it can be. Supporting my teens through their ups and downs is already a full-time job, but adding the responsibility of being the primary caregiver for a parent introduces a whole new level of complexity. There are medical appointments to attend, medication management, and sometimes tough conversations about independence and health. What makes this challenge unique in your 30s is juggling your career and personal life alongside these responsibilities. Time management becomes crucial, and finding support systems—whether through extended family, friends, or professional caregivers—can make a significant difference. If you’re in this season, it helps to connect with others going through similar experiences. Sharing tips for self-care, resource recommendations, and emotional support can ease the burden. Remember, while it’s demanding, this phase also provides opportunities for personal growth, deeper family bonds, and learning resilience. So, if you find yourself saying, “This wasn’t in the brochure!” when contemplating your 30s, know you’re certainly not alone. Many are navigating the wild ride of parenting teens, managing relationships, and caring for parents simultaneously. It’s okay to ask for help and prioritize your well-being amidst it all.

I dealt with this beginning at age 37 until my dad died when I was 43.
