One week since my hysterectomy! Trying to enjoy being lazy but it’s hard 😅 #hysterectomy #hysterectomyrecovery #hysterectomyjourney #partialhysterectomyrecovery
Recovering from a hysterectomy can be a challenging experience, especially in the first week when your body is still adjusting to the surgery. I found that giving myself permission to rest was one of the hardest yet most important parts of recovery. Even though the urge to be active and get things done was strong, listening to my body's needs helped avoid setbacks. During the early days, I noticed how crucial managing pain and discomfort was—using prescribed medication, taking short walks indoors, and staying hydrated all made a difference. Monitoring my surgical site for signs of infection was also a priority. Small activities like light stretching helped maintain circulation but I avoided heavy lifting or strenuous exercise. Support from family and friends made a huge impact on my mental well-being. Sharing my journey with others who had gone through a hysterectomy provided reassurance and practical advice. The emotional ups and downs, from frustration with limited mobility to gratitude for healing progress, felt very real. As I entered day seven of my recovery, I began reflecting on the importance of patience during this phase. Everyone’s body heals at its own pace, and comparing myself to others wasn’t helpful. Instead, celebrating small milestones like less pain or better sleep kept me motivated. For anyone undergoing a partial or total hysterectomy, my advice would be to prioritize rest without guilt, communicate openly with your healthcare provider about any concerns, and seek support when needed. Recovery is a journey, and embracing each step with kindness to yourself is key to healing successfully.
