ELEGY FOR AIMAT
Elegy for Aimat. Here lies the body of my Doppler ganger The girl who stole my identityShe looked exactly like me She had my face my life My body But she wasn’t me Her favorite color was greenDarkness gave her joy Her only goal was destruction Her personality was spoiled Her fake happiness was really an evil smile She wasn’t me, she was a thiefShe tried to steal my identityShe tortured me physically if i tried to shout She stole my identity I thought i couldn’t do anything about it So i let my doppleganger be Her words always stung She was mean and controllingShe told me i wasn’t lovedShe told me i couldn’t do itHere lies the body of my doppleganger Jesus took the wheel and she hit a dead end Here lies the body of my doppleganger She was the embodiment of afflictionCalamity and evilNow my doppleganger is the embodiment of mourning death Here lies the body of my doppleganger Oh, how the tables turned GOOD RIDDANCE!
The concept of identity theft, whether literal or metaphorical, resonates deeply in modern discussions around mental health. In poetry, it often symbolizes the internal battles one faces against anxiety, depression, and self-doubt. The phrase 'RIP to anxiety' evokes a sense of liberation, suggesting a desire to overcome these psychological hurdles. Mental health issues have been notoriously stigmatized, yet they are universal experiences that many can relate to. Literature, including poems like 'Elegy for Aimat', plays a pivotal role in articulating these struggles, allowing individuals to find connection and understanding through shared vulnerabilities. By confronting these themes, the poem not only highlights personal afflictions but also offers a cathartic release, turning the focus towards healing and self-acceptance. Through artistic expression, readers are invited to reflect on their own journeys, fostering an environment of empathy and support.
