Please keep Blondie in your prayers. ❤️

We believe she may have been bitten by a snake. She has two small puncture marks close together on the lower part of her leg, and it swelled up significantly.

Right now she's on strict stall rest and is receiving pain medication and anti-inflammatory medication while we keep a close eye on her. We're praying she makes a full recovery.

Please keep Blondie in your thoughts and prayers over the next few days. We appreciate every prayer, kind word, and bit of support. 🐴🙏

Wouldn't be so stress if it was young horse but she older and already has circulation problems with her back legs so I get stress really bad over her next couple days

From personal experience, immediate veterinary attention is crucial to assess the severity, administer antivenom if available, and start pain and anti-inflammatory medicines. Stall rest helps prevent further injury while the swelling subsides. Older horses with compromised circulation need extra monitoring as their healing process can be slower and risks like tissue damage or laminitis increase. Checking the affected leg frequently for changes in swelling, discoloration, or temperature can alert you to complications. In cases of snake bites, wound care is also essential to prevent infection. Emotional stress for owners is understandable during this recovery period. Keeping a journal of Blondie’s progress, medication times, and any changes can provide structure and a sense of control. Reaching out to fellow horse owners or veterinarians for advice and moral support also makes a difference. If you own a horse in a snake-prevalent area, consider preventative measures such as keeping pastures clear of snakes and having a first aid kit ready. Early symptoms like puncture wounds and sudden swelling should never be ignored. Being informed and prepared can improve outcomes significantly. Sending love and strength to Blondie and all caring for horses in similar situations. Consistent care and positive thoughts are powerful allies in healing.
