How I eat in a day✨✨(& no that’s not a typo lol)💟

I’ve been athlete for most of my life, & I’ve recently concluded my D1 collegiate track and field career. Now that I’m transitioning to run professionally(& model), I have to handle my nutritional needs more efficiently. One of the great things about being a high-level athlete in college is that you get free services like a nutritionist. To be honest, I wish I utilized it more but I DIGRESS😂

Anywho, recently I’ve found some old papers that my nutritionist🫐 gave me & it had so many meal ideas & even explains why each meal is important & how it can help the body! I’m someone who will skip a meal on accident if it means I have more time to get work done but I’ve been told for years that 3 meals is golden even if one is just a smoothie. SO, I decided to challenge myself for the next 21 days to stick to a routine of eating healthy food, eating ENOUGH food, & eating OUT less.✨

It has been a week & So far, so good! & I actually feel a difference in my energy throughout the day! I also noticed that I genuinely look forward to making my own food because it slows me down & helps me live in the moment.. who would’ve thought cooking could be so beneficial? 🧘🏽‍♀️

I say all this to say what? I’ve always been the type to order Uber eats before I cook anything because I felt like I “didn’t have time”. Sometimes you just need to challenge yourself & you’ll realize that you’re more than capable. The time it takes to receive food from Uber eats(and might’ve been cooked in a filthy kitchen for all you know), you’re just better off cooking at home. 🥘

On the other hand, it’s completely okay to splurge on dinner at a restaurant, etc. But I’m realizing that there’s no place like home when it comes to cooking healthy, energizing meals. 😋

That’s all for now, see you in the next one 💕✌🏾

... Read moreTransitioning from a D1 collegiate athlete to a professional runner and aspiring model has been an incredible journey, and a huge part of that has been redefining my relationship with food. As a former athlete, my body was used to burning through massive amounts of calories, and now, even though I'm still active, the intensity has shifted. I quickly realized that the nutritional strategies that fueled my peak athletic performance might need a tweak to support my new goals, especially in the modeling world where overall well-being and a radiant glow are key. For us former athletes, it's easy to fall into old habits of eating huge portions, but adapting to a slightly different activity level is crucial. I've found focusing on nutrient-dense meals is more important than ever. My mornings often kick off with a high-protein breakfast – think scrambled eggs with a generous helping of spinach, maybe some lean sausage links, and a side of blueberries and strawberries for natural sugars and antioxidants. It keeps me full and focused. Later in the day, a refreshing purple smoothie packed with raspberries, more blueberries, and a splash of oat milk has become a go-to for quick energy and hydration, especially after a workout. It’s amazing how these small changes add up! And for those of us navigating the world of modeling, good nutrition isn't just about weight management; it's about skin health, energy for long shoots, and overall vitality. I've noticed a significant improvement in my complexion and energy levels since I started consistently preparing my own meals. Balanced meals that include plenty of complex carbohydrates, healthy fats, and lean proteins are my secret weapon. For dinner, I often prepare a balanced plate featuring white rice, cooked spinach with crispy onions, and perfectly seasoned protein pieces. It’s satisfying and provides sustained energy without feeling heavy. Now, about eating out at restaurants – it’s a tricky one! While I love a good meal out, I realized it was becoming a crutch and often led to less nutritious choices. My challenge to cook more at home has definitely paid off. However, completely avoiding restaurants isn’t realistic or fun. When I do go out, I try to make smart choices. I look for grilled or baked options instead of fried, ask for dressings on the side, and load up on vegetables. Sometimes, I’ll even split a dish with a friend or opt for an appetizer as my main course to avoid overeating. It’s all about balance and conscious choices. Learning to enjoy the process of cooking has been an unexpected joy, making me feel more connected to my food and my body. It's truly a journey of self-discovery and empowerment in the kitchen!
