Smoky Mountain Fan Fest this weekend!! #atla #avatar #toph #tennessee #smokymountains
Hey everyone! Kenzie Heaven Grist here, and I just had to share all the amazing details from the Smoky Mountain Fan Fest that happened this past weekend, September 5-7, at the MeadowView Convention Center in Kingsport, Tennessee! If you're an Avatar: The Last Airbender fan like me, this was an absolute dream come true. It's truly a gem for us fans in Tennessee, and honestly, probably the closest many of us will get to such an incredible gathering right in our backyard. The absolute highlight for so many, myself included, was definitely meeting Olivia Hack, the incredibly talented voice actor behind Toph Beifong! Getting to hear her talk about her experiences, behind-the-scenes stories, and the iconic character was truly special. I even managed to snag a photo op – totally worth it! It’s not every day you get to say hello to one of the greatest earthbenders of all time. We also had the pleasure of seeing Jenny Kwan, adding another fantastic personality to the stage. The energy in the room during their panels was electric, with fans asking brilliant questions and sharing their unwavering love for the show. These interactions really make you feel connected to the creators and the stories we cherish. But the festival wasn't just about Avatar, though that was certainly a huge draw! There was a fantastic array of guests from other beloved franchises too. I spotted some amazing talent from Pokémon, Star Trek, and even The Walking Dead – talk about a diverse lineup for all kinds of fandoms! It was great to explore the various booths, from independent artists showcasing incredible fan art to vendors selling unique collectibles and comic books. I grabbed a few comics to get autographed, which is always a treasure to take home, a tangible memory of an unforgettable weekend. The artistry on display was truly inspiring, making it hard to resist bringing home a new piece for my collection. The schedule was packed with exciting events, and I made sure to catch the Avatar panel at 2 PM on Sunday – pure gold! For those interested in photo opportunities, they had specific times throughout the weekend: Friday at 2:20 PM, Saturday at 5:25 PM, and Sunday at 10:00 AM. Always a good idea to double-check those times upon arrival, as things can sometimes shift a bit. Beyond the main guests, there were also opportunities to meet fellow cosplayers, participate in fan discussions, and simply soak in the vibrant atmosphere. The camaraderie among attendees, whether you were there for comic books or photo ops, was palpable. The atmosphere was buzzing with fellow 'Twinkle Toes' and fans from all walks of life, making it a truly unforgettable community experience. If you're like me, always on the lookout for the next big fan event, I highly recommend keeping an eye out for future Smoky Mountain Fan Fests. They really bring together a fantastic mix of guests, artists, and, most importantly, passionate fans. It's the perfect opportunity to immerse yourself in your favorite universes, grab some unique merchandise, and connect with people who share your enthusiasm. Plus, supporting these local conventions helps ensure we get more amazing events like this in our region. I'm already counting down the days until the next one! Hope to see you there, fellow Melon Lords and Avatar enthusiasts! Don't miss out on the chance to say hello and grab a photo next time!
