Theme: false teachers was an issue back in the Bible day and they are an issue in 2025 as well we don’t need false leadership we need biblical leadership understanding that it’s a difference between i want and i need.
Synopsis of my experience:Speaking from my experience learning from the Holy Spirit the learning comes with understanding the Holy Spirit leads us right to our Savior Jesus we must look for the Holy Spirit in mankind to teach us. The Holy Spirit is our teacher the Holy Spirit teach and preach through His preachers.
Conclusion.
1 John 2:27
As for you, the anointing you received from him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about all things and as that anointing is real, not counterfeit—just as it has taught you, remain in him.
Take note we understand the church of people, not a brick and mortar building the early church facing deception from false teachers (Gnostics) who claimed secret knowledge, causing division; John assures true believers they don't need these outsiders because the Holy Spirit's anointing ("chrisma") within them is sufficient to teach truth, enabling them to discern false doctrines denying Christ's humanity, thus urging reliance on the Holy Spirit Scripture over charismatic deceivers.
A "Gnostic Threat" refers to Gnosticism's challenge to traditional religious authority (like the early Church) by emphasizing secret, personal spiritual knowledge (gnosis) for salvation, viewing the material world as flawed and the Creator God as inferior, thereby undermining established doctrines and clerical power through mystical experience over faith and dogma. It threatens by offering an escape from earthly existence via secret knowledge, contrasting the "super-apostles" with official church teachings.
Historical Context: Gnostic Threat
False Teachers: The passage directly addresses "those who are trying to deceive you" (1 John 2:26).
Gnostic Influence: These deceivers were likely early Gnostics, who claimed special spiritual insight and denied Jesus came in the flesh, a key point John emphasizes.
Community Division: Their teachings split the community into "spiritual haves" (them) and "have-nots" (the majority).
The Anointing (Chrisma)
Holy Spirit: The "anointing" (Greek: chrisma) is the indwelling Holy Spirit, given to all believers.
Divine Equipping: It's a divine empowerment and presence, similar to Jesus (the Messiah, "Anointed One").
Internal Guidance: The Holy Spirit teaches believers all things, guiding them into truth, making them self-sufficient against false claims.
John's Message & Purpose
Reassurance: Believers already possess the necessary spiritual discernment through the Holy Spirit.
Counter-Deception: We don't need the "new revelations" or secret knowledge offered by false teachers.
Abiding in Christ: The anointing encourages believers to "abide" (remain) in Christ and His truth, rather than seeking external sources.
Not Anti-Teaching: John, a teacher himself, isn't saying no teachers are needed, but that no false teachers offering new truths are needed; the Spirit affirms the true, old gospel.
