My twins are 11 months old today which means we’ve officially entered the last month of babyhood (infancy). I keep looking at their faces knowing these features are about to change. From their chubby cheeks and thighs, the baby teeth (still trying to envision that gummy smile), and the way they still curl into me like they did during the newborn days. I never want to forget any of it. This past year has been the hardest yet most beautiful and most disorienting year of my life because nothing could have prepared me for twin motherhood, no matter all the advice I received. From the sleepless nights, two of almost everything, the moments when I didn’t know how I was going to make it to the next feeding… but also the moments where I thought my heart might actually burst. Now I’m planning their 1st birthday while quietly grieving the end of this chapter because as much as I’m celebrating how far we’ve come, I’m also saying goodbye to the only version of them I’ve ever known. This time last year I was still waiting to meet them wondering what they’d look like and who they’d be. Now I know and I’d do every hard moment of this year over again without hesitation. One month countdown to one year of being their mom ♥️♥️ Hudson & Caspian, you’re almost 1!!!!

As my twins approach their first birthday, I find myself reminiscing about the intense phases we navigated—from endless sleepless nights and tandem feedings to the joy of witnessing their first smiles and milestones. One of the most impactful parts of this journey has been watching their baby features slowly fade—the chubby cheeks and folds that made them unmistakably babies are gently transforming as they grow into toddlers. It’s bittersweet saying goodbye to this stage, but also exciting to anticipate the new personalities they’re developing. Planning a first birthday for twins involves double the preparation and reflection. It’s about cherishing the past year’s growth and celebrating resilience—not only theirs but mine as a mom who’s grown alongside them. I’ve learned the importance of creating moments that honor their unique bond and individuality, even as they share so much together. The past year has taught me that while advice and preparation help, nothing truly equips you for the unpredictability and magnitude of raising twins. Embracing the hard days alongside the joyful ones has made every moment worthwhile. If you’re also on this twin journey, remember to give yourself grace, celebrate small wins, and hold onto the fleeting baby moments because they truly do pass faster than you expect. This last month of babyhood is a special time to reflect, cherish, and prepare for all the exciting toddler milestones ahead.
