I love finding freelance opportunities online. Let’s break down March results.
Dataforce/Transperfect
•I’ve been working on this specific project since August 2024
•The pay is per audio minute transcribed but it breaks down to average $13/hr
RWS
•I worked a 1-time project in February and March. I received pay for February hours in March.
•This project was $30/hr
DoorDash Videos
• I was accepted into one of DoorDash’s creator programs in February so I create videos of food I order. I get paid $50 for every accepted video. This was really great while we were moving, we ordered more often since we were exhausted.
Amazon Creator
• I honestly don’t remember when I got accepted into Amazon’s creator/influencer program, it’s been years. I haven’t done anything with this in months. But two of my videos started generating sales in March. I really need to put more effort into this.
Facebook
• I got accepted into Facebook’s monetization program in 2025. I haven’t really gotten the hang of it yet, but something is better than nothing.
Any other side hustles that I can do from home that you would recommend?
... Read moreWorking freelance online offers a unique flexibility that allows you to diversify your income streams while managing your own schedule. One aspect I’ve found valuable is mixing different types of freelance opportunities to both increase earnings and reduce downtime between projects.
For example, transcription jobs like the one with Dataforce/Transperfect are steady and provide hourly pay based on audio minutes transcribed. Although the pay rate averages around $13/hr, this steady income can be a reliable foundation. Combining this with higher-paying short-term projects like RWS, which pays $30/hr, helps stabilize your monthly freelance revenue.
Beyond transcription, joining creator programs such as DoorDash’s content creator initiative can be quite lucrative if you enjoy making videos. Getting $50 per accepted video, especially during busy life periods like moving, made this hustle both fun and profitable for me. Similarly, Amazon’s creator and influencer programs have the potential for passive income once your videos start converting into sales — a reminder that regularly updating your content is key to sustaining earnings.
Facebook's monetization program represents another avenue to explore, though it may require some experimentation to fully tap into its potential. My experience reminds me that persistence and learning platform algorithms are essential to unlocking income here.
If you’re looking to expand beyond these options, consider freelancing platforms like Upwork or Fiverr for varied gigs, online tutoring, or virtual assistant roles. These options often allow you to leverage existing skills into multiple streams of income, maximizing productivity from home.
Overall, my freelance journey teaches that balancing predictable projects with creative content creation builds both financial resilience and enjoyment. Don’t forget to have fun with your work, as the inspiring message from the Sharpie image reminds me – keeping passion alive in your projects is as important as the earnings.
