For those of you who saw my original post, you know he’s a sweet red and white Valentine's themed owl figure, complete with a tiny glittery red heart he's holding and a cute white bow on his head. I just love how he looks perched on my 'CANDY HEARTS' mug – it just adds to the whole sweet vibe, don't you think?
Seeing all your lovely comments made me think, why not share some ideas for how you can bring some 'birdie love' into your own home or give as a special gift? Making your own cute crafts like this is surprisingly fun and doesn't have to be complicated!
If you're looking to create your own version of a 'Love Birdie,' here are a few easy DIY ideas to get you started:
Felt Birdie Ornaments: These are super beginner-friendly! Grab some red, pink, and white felt. Cut out two simple bird shapes (like an owl or a generic bird) for the body, then smaller heart shapes for the chest, little wings, and a tiny beak. You can stitch them together or use fabric glue. Stuff them lightly with cotton for a plump look, then add googly eyes and maybe a little ribbon loop to hang them. Imagine a flock of these on a Valentine's branch!
Paper Love Birdie Cards: This is perfect if you want to make something thoughtful for friends or family. Use different colored cardstock – think pastels, reds, and pinks. Cut out bird shapes, small hearts, and wings. You can layer them for a 3D effect. Write sweet messages inside, or even add some glitter glue for that extra sparkle, just like the glittery heart my birdie is holding! You could even use a mini hole punch to create tiny 'CANDY HEARTS' messages.
Birdie Jar Toppers or Gift Tags: Have some small jars you want to fill with candy for Valentine's? Cut out a birdie shape from cardstock or felt, decorate it, and then glue it onto the lid! Or, punch a hole and tie it onto a gift bag, making a super cute and personalized tag. It's such a simple way to elevate a gift.
Painted Rock Birdies: If you enjoy painting, find some smooth, flat rocks. Prime them with white paint, then paint your own adorable 'Love Birdie' designs. You can make them colorful, add tiny hearts, or write "I ❤️ U" on their little bellies. Once dry, seal them with a clear coat, and they make wonderful keepsakes or garden decor.
Don't be afraid to personalize your 'love birdie' any way you like! Use different colors, add beads, sequins, or even tiny photos. The most important thing is to have fun with it and let your creativity fly. These little birdies are a fantastic way to spread a little extra love and cheer this Valentine's season. I’d absolutely love to see what kind of 'birdie love' creations you come up with – share them with me! Happy crafting!
