Just refreshing my space after working 3x12’s

After a grueling week, especially if you've been putting in long shifts like 3x12s, the idea of a 'weekend reset' isn't just a trend – it's a necessity for your well-being! I used to dread my days off because my home would be a mess, and my mind felt just as cluttered. But I've learned that a proper reset can transform your entire week ahead. So, what does a truly effective weekend reset look like? It’s more than just a quick tidy; it’s a holistic approach to refreshing your space and your spirit. For me, it starts with acknowledging that this is my "Day Off" and dedicating specific time to reset, rather than just letting the weekend slip by. 1. The Home Refresh (Time to Clean!): My first step is always to tackle the physical space. It's amazing how much a clean environment impacts your mental state. I don't necessarily do a deep clean every weekend, but I focus on high-impact areas. This usually means tidying up the main living spaces, wiping down surfaces, doing a load or two of laundry, and making sure my kitchen is ready for the week. Sometimes I even give my coffee maker, like my trusty Breville, a quick descaling – it’s a small detail but makes a big difference in the mornings! While I'm cleaning, I make sure to stay hydrated with plenty of water (sometimes even making delicious "OT WATER" with some lemon or cucumber) because it can be quite a workout! 2. The Mental Declutter: Once my space feels calmer, I turn my attention to my mind. This often involves a quick review of the week past and a gentle look at the week ahead. I might jot down a few thoughts in a journal or simply spend 15 minutes planning some simple meals. This helps to offload any lingering worries and sets a clear intention for the upcoming days. I also try to limit screen time for a bit to truly disengage. 3. Replenish & Rejuvenate: A reset isn't just about getting things done; it's about recharging. This might mean enjoying a leisurely breakfast, taking a walk, or simply reading a book. Sometimes, my reset includes "Running some errands brb" – but I do it strategically. Instead of letting errands consume my day, I batch them and get them done efficiently, so I can return to my peaceful home. It's about finding that balance between necessary tasks and genuine relaxation. I've found that by dedicating a few intentional hours to this "Reset" routine, I don't just have a cleaner house; I have a clearer head, more energy, and a greater sense of control going into Monday. It truly helps me feel grounded and ready to face another demanding week. Give it a try – you might be surprised how much better you feel!
