🍓 | THIS PLACE HITS THE SPOT!

hello 🍋 bbs!!! yes, yet another food review!!! been to @Thachangsg for at least 3 times so you know it’s GOOD. let’s dive right into it!

I was first recommended this place by my friend and after trying it out, omg it’s literally my go-to restaurant every time i’m craving thai food!

Tha Chang has 2 outlets — Telok Ayer & Bugis Junction, but I always head to the one at Telok Ayer ⋆⭒˚。⋆

🍜 Pork Boat Noodles 🌟

My favourite noodles when it comes to boat noodles will always be thai noodles! It makes the dish more authentic and brings me back to thailand 🤤 I love how they have meatballs and kangkong, one of my favourite vegetables! Their meat to noodle portion is reasonable as well, with a rich and intense broth that we always finish.

*Note that you can choose the type of noodles (egg, rice, thai, vermicelli) and if you want spicy/non spicy!

🐟 Yum Salmon 🌟

This is definitely one of our favourite dishes!!! Could be a little spicy if you cannot handle spice, but it definitely hits the spot! With a generous portion, it’s definitely worth the try~ I definitely prefer this over the raw prawns ִ ࣪𖤐

🍳 Crispy Omelette with Mango Salad

The portion for this was HUGE. My partner and I weren’t able to finish this 🫣. The crispy omelette was a little too oily for me, but I love the mango salad! Tossed with crushed peanuts, onions and a tangy dressing, every mouthful was bright and refreshing 😮‍💨 Would love to try their Omelette Crab Bomb next time ʚ(。˃ ᵕ ˂ )ɞ

🦐 Raw Prawns

These were good as well, but they were slightly mushy and didn’t have that snap you’d expect from fresh ones, could’ve been fresher! This is spicier than the salmon, so take note if you cannot handle spice! Nevertheless, the seafood sauce paired really well with the prawns and I still enjoyed this dish ★ˎˊ˗

🍤 Prawn Cakes 🌟

The first time we tried this, we fell in love. Served with a sweet chilli dipping sauce, the outside was crispy and this was packed with tender prawns. Each bite was juicy and flavourful, and we couldn’t help but want more 😮‍💨 It’s a must-order everytime we head there now, but it gets sold out sometimes, so head there early if you can!

🍹Iced Thai Milk Tea

Nothing too special, just a normal thai milk tea you would expect. I liked this as it wasn’t too sweet, perfect for someone who doesn’t have a sweet tooth like me!

Can’t recommend this place enough if you’re nearby! I’ll definitely be returning for another round˙ᵕ˙

... Read moreIf you're a fan of authentic Thai cuisine, Tha Chang is definitely a spot worth adding to your food list, especially its Telok Ayer outlet. One thing you might find interesting is how flexible their noodle options are; you can choose from egg, rice, Thai-style, or vermicelli noodles and even specify your preferred spice level. This customization really helps tailor dishes to your taste preferences. I personally appreciate the balance they strike between ingredient portions and broth intensity, especially in their pork boat noodles. The broth is rich and deeply flavorful, which, combined with fresh kangkong and meatballs, creates a comforting bowl reminiscent of street food in Thailand. A word of advice for spice-sensitive diners: While dishes like the yum salmon and raw prawns deliver a flavorful punch, they can be quite spicy, so it’s best to choose the non-spicy version or share these dishes to savor the flavors without overwhelming your palate. Another highlight is their prawn cakes—crispy outside and juicy inside, perfectly paired with sweet chili sauce. However, fair warning if you’re going during peak hours: these popular items tend to sell out fast. For dessert or when you want a refreshing drink, the iced Thai milk tea is a safe bet—mildly sweet and cooling after a spicy meal. Lastly, the restaurant offers a genuine Thai dining atmosphere that adds to the overall experience, making each visit feel like a mini escape to Bangkok. Whether you're dining solo or with friends, the generous portion sizes and authentic taste ensure great satisfaction. Next time I'm visiting, I’m definitely trying their Omelette Crab Bomb based on the rave reviews. Overall, Tha Chang keeps topping my list of favorite Thai restaurants in Singapore, and I highly recommend it if you want a true taste of Thailand without leaving the city.
