flavourful mazesoba in cbd?!

📍kajiken, tanjong pagar

a flavour strong enough, but not too heavy on your palette˚˖𓍢ִ໋❀

portion was pretty decent, filling for me! you can also add rice to the gravy once you’re done with the soba~ the flavours blend together so well, but not too jelak for me too~ it also comes with a small soup on the side — limited to one refill. flavourful and definitely comforting on a rainy day .✦ ݁˖

was pleasantly surprised how yummy this place was as i’ve tried another mazesoba place and it was quite jelak! note that the queue gets long during lunch, but will move pretty fast if you’re in a smaller group ⊹₊⟡⋆

what we ordered:

taiwan mazesoba nagoya style

taiwan mazesoba with char siew

overall: ★★★★.8/5

... Read moreIf you’re new to mazesoba or looking for a great spot in the CBD area, Kajiken is worth the visit. The Taiwanese-style mazesoba stands out with its rich but not overwhelming taste, making it less jelak compared to other places. Adding char siu enhances your experience with an extra savory punch. The portion sizes are satisfying enough for a hearty lunch, and I enjoyed the small soup on the side, which you can refill once—perfect for warming up on rainy days. Keep in mind that lunch queues can get long, but they move quickly if you come in a small group. One tip I’d share is to try mixing in the rice after finishing your soba noodles; it soaks up the delicious gravy and turns your meal into a comforting, filling feast. Whether you’re a fan of Japanese comfort foods or looking to try something new, Kajiken’s mazesoba blends flavors beautifully without being too heavy on your palate.

Yanhuo Restaurant 烟伙餐馆 | Modern Chinese Cuisine at Cross St is 5-15min walking distance from Chinatown MRT, Telok Ayer MRT and Lau Pa Sat - making it a perfect post work date night / hangout place during weekdays. I was excited to try this ever since it came up in my IG FYP a few months back.
