flavourful mazesoba in cbd?!

📍kajiken, tanjong pagar

a flavour strong enough, but not too heavy on your palette˚˖𓍢ִ໋❀

portion was pretty decent, filling for me! you can also add rice to the gravy once you’re done with the soba~ the flavours blend together so well, but not too jelak for me too~ it also comes with a small soup on the side — limited to one refill. flavourful and definitely comforting on a rainy day .✦ ݁˖

was pleasantly surprised how yummy this place was as i’ve tried another mazesoba place and it was quite jelak! note that the queue gets long during lunch, but will move pretty fast if you’re in a smaller group ⊹₊⟡⋆

taiwan mazesoba nagoya style

taiwan mazesoba with char siew

Unlike some other places where the dish felt too greasy or jelak, Kajiken’s Taiwanese mazesoba offers a strong yet clean taste, which is satisfying without being heavy on the palate. One thing I appreciated was the portion size—it was filling enough to leave me content but not stuffed. A unique highlight for me was the ability to add rice to the leftover gravy after finishing the noodles, which transformed the meal and made use of every flavorful bit. This practical tip enhances the dining experience, especially if you enjoy combining textures and flavors. The accompanying small soup with a single refill is a thoughtful complement to the dish, especially on rainy days when a warm, comforting meal is perfect. Although the place gets quite busy during lunch hours, especially with longer queues, I found that coming in a smaller group helped speed things up, making it convenient for office lunches in the CBD. If you’re deciding what to order, the Taiwan mazesoba Nagoya style and the variant with char siew both have distinct tastes that blend flavors beautifully. My overall impression rates Kajiken highly, especially as a reliable go-to for flavorful, comforting mazesoba in the heart of Singapore’s CBD area. This spot is a must-try for foodies and those seeking authentic Japanese food experiences beyond the usual. For anyone exploring Tanjong Pagar’s diverse food scene, Kajiken’s mazesoba offers a memorable culinary experience that balances taste, quantity, and ambiance, making it a perfect choice for casual dining or a quick, satisfying meal.
