... Read moreOh my gosh, you guys, if you've ever thought about doing karaoke at Otakon, DO IT! It's seriously one of the most electric and supportive environments I've ever experienced at a con. I've been to Otakon a few times, but this year's karaoke session really stood out. I was a little nervous at first, picking out my songs, but the moment I stepped onto that stage, all the fear just vanished. The crowd was amazing, cheering everyone on, no matter their skill level. It felt less like a competition and more like a huge sing-along party with all my fellow anime lovers. Finding the karaoke room at Otakon is usually pretty straightforward, but it's always good to check the con schedule and map as soon as you arrive. They sometimes have different time slots, maybe even themed ones, so keep an eye out for that! My personal tip for anyone thinking of participating: don't overthink your song choice. Pick something you genuinely love to sing, whether it's a classic opening from your childhood or a brand new hit from Frieren or Fullmoon Wo Sagashite. The energy is contagious, and everyone just wants to have a good time. I saw some incredible cosplayers perform, too, which just added to the whole spectacle. Imagine someone in full cosplay belting out their character's theme song – it's pure magic! One of the best parts about Otakon karaoke is the sheer variety of songs you hear. From super popular shonen anthems to nostalgic magical girl tunes, there's a song for every anime fan. I even heard a few people tackle some really challenging J-rock tracks, and the audience was right there with them, waving glow sticks and singing along. It’s a unique way to connect with other attendees and share your passion. If you're worried about stage fright, don't be! Many people go up in groups, or you can just focus on the screen if you'd rather not make eye contact. The main goal is to have fun and immerse yourself in the Otakon spirit. It's truly a highlight of the convention for me, and I can't wait to do it again next year. If you're heading to Otakon, definitely put 'karaoke' on your must-do list. You won't regret singing your heart out!
