Having hooded eyes myself, I know firsthand the challenges of creating eye makeup that truly stands out without getting lost in the eye fold. One of the best tricks I've found is to use a 'spotlight' technique, where you focus shimmer eyeshadow on the center of your eyelid to catch light and make the eyes appear larger and more open. Start by applying a matte eyeshadow shade over your lid, especially in the crease area, to give your eyelid depth. Then, carefully place a shimmery or glittery eyeshadow in the middle of your eyelid using the side of the brush or your finger for better control. This contrast really makes the eyes pop. To define your eyes further, create a smoky wing using a dark shadow along the outer corner of your eyes, blending it well so it lifts the eye shape. Adding mascara is essential to open up the lashes, but be sure to avoid clumping, as hooded eyes can cast shadows. Lastly, finish your look with a lipstick color that complements your eye makeup—I've personally enjoyed pairing bold eyes with soft nude lips or the opposite for balance. These steps have boosted my confidence and helped me embrace my hooded eyes. Remember, practice is key, and experimenting with different shadow textures and colors can lead you to find what best highlights your unique features.
