Pt.1 new oc: Mo’eashia
Hey everyone! So thrilled to finally share my latest original character, Mo'eashia! ✨ Creating new OCs is one of my absolute favorite things to do, and I often get asked where I find my inspiration. If you’re also on the hunt for cool OC ideas or wondering how to start bringing your own unique characters to life, you’re definitely in the right place! My absolute go-to spot for sparking creativity? Pinterest, hands down! It’s an absolute goldmine for 'oc ideas pinterest'. I love creating mood boards for different aesthetics, character types, and even specific details like fashion or environments. Searching terms like 'fantasy character design inspiration,' 'sci-fi OC concepts,' or even 'unique character aesthetics' can lead you down amazing rabbit holes. For Mo'eashia, I started with a strong visual vibe I found there, then built her personality and backstory around it. It’s not just about copying; it’s about collecting elements that resonate and then twisting them into something uniquely yours. Beyond visuals, what makes an 'original character' truly cool? For me, it's all about depth. Think about their backstory: What shaped them? What are their core motivations? What are their flaws and strengths? Don't be afraid to give them quirks! Mo'eashia, for instance, has a very distinct personality that evolved as I brainstormed her past experiences and how they molded her. A great exercise is to repeatedly ask 'why' about every aspect of your character. Why do they wear that? Why do they act that way? This helps create a cohesive and believable individual. When it comes to actual design, don’t feel pressured to be a master artist right away. Sometimes a simple sketch or even a detailed written description is enough to get started. There are plenty of 'websites for OCs' that offer character creators or picrew makers if drawing isn't your forte, which can be fantastic for visualizing your initial concept. Name generators can also be a lifesaver for finding that perfect name that resonates with your character's essence, just like how 'Eashia' felt just right for my new creation! Once you have the basics down, keep developing! Think about how your OC interacts with others, what kind of stories they'd fit into, and how they might grow or change over time. The more you explore them, the more real they become. Sharing your OCs with friends or in online communities can also provide valuable feedback and new perspectives, helping you refine them further and discover aspects you hadn't considered. So, if you're feeling stuck on your next 'original character' project, remember these steps: dive into Pinterest for visual cues, build a compelling backstory, don't be afraid to use online tools, and keep exploring their potential. I can't wait to see what amazing 'cool original characters' you all come up with! What are your favorite ways to brainstorm new OCs? Let me know in the comments – I love hearing about other creators' processes!
