Don’t lower your Standards

... Read moreIn today's dating culture, it can be tempting to settle or adjust our expectations just to avoid loneliness or to fit in. However, from my own experience, lowering your standards often leads to dissatisfaction and relationships that lack depth and true connection. Your standards reflect your self-worth and the qualities you value most in a partner—whether it's being remembered, feeling truly loved, or accepted for who you are. It’s important to remember that these expectations are not unreasonable; they represent what you deserve. I’ve learned that patience is key. Over time, the right person who fits these standards will come along and it will feel natural and perfect—not forced. It’s also crucial to respect that everyone is unique, and not every person will meet your criteria, which is perfectly okay. Maintaining your standards doesn’t mean being inflexible or unkind. It means you are clear about what makes a relationship healthy and fulfilling for you. For example, expecting a partner to remember important details about you isn’t about being demanding; it’s about valuing emotional connection and attentiveness. Ultimately, holding onto your expectations empowers you to build authentic relationships grounded in mutual respect and love. Rather than compromising on what truly matters, focus on growth and being your authentic self—this attracts the right people to your life. So, don’t let societal pressures or others’ opinions convince you that your standards are too high. They are your truths, and honoring them is essential for your happiness and fulfillment in relationships.
